Having grown up from humble beginnings, Zey was exposed to the social aspect and culture of Kizomba from an early age. Born in Mozambique (Africa) and traveling between Angola as a child really set the passion for what was later to become what he loves today.

As a child Zey was exposed to music and dance, he danced socially at family parties as a tradition growing up. He also performed traditional cultural dances, was involved in theatre and arts and also trained and performed in the art of Capoeira from the age of 17.

In his words; in 1998 I attended a social gathering with family members when I watched my cousins from Mozambique dance, their moves were fluid and flawless gliding on the dance floor and connecting to the music. From that day I fell in love with this dance called Kizomba.

Since 2014 Zey has attended many bootcamps, festivals and teachers seminars both in Australia and overseas to learn as much as he can. He has also taught International workshops in Singapore and East Timor and continues to travel teach and learn within Australia and around the world. Having pioneered the Kizomba scene in Darwin, Zey also organises events and workshops to keep the love for this beautiful dance and its culture growing.
